Sony recently delayed its yet-to-be-named motion controller until Fall 2010 in order to “offer an exciting and varied line-up of software titles that will deliver the new entertainment experience to PS3 users.” Probably a wise movie considering only one game would have supported the device had it launched this spring. That game, of course, if Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition. The Alternative Edition is coming to the US in the form of the Gold Edition, so does the delay of the controller have an impact on the Gold Edition? According to Capcom, no.
“Capcom has not announced any compatibility between Sony’s motion controller and Resident Evil 5 in North America,” the company told Joystiq. “The release of this product will be unaffected by the delay in our territory and is still on track for a March 9 release with the individual pieces of downloadable content released prior.”
That doesn’t answer how the Alternative Edition, which is confirmed to support the peripheral in some manner, will be effected, but I would expect support for it to come in the form of a patch.
