Duke Nukem Forever might have gotten canned (or did it?), but the Duke isn’t SOL just yet, at least not if 3D Realms co-founder and CEO Scott Miller has anything to say about it. According to him, “numerous other Duke games” are in development.
“The next few years should see a strong resurgence in Duke,” said Miller. “There are numerous other Duke games in various stages of development, several due out this year. We are definitely looking to bring Duke into casual gaming spaces, plus there are other major Duke games in production.”
Shacknews points out that the unannounced Nukem titles likely include:
Two Duke iPhone games Miller previously announced.
- A Duke Nukem trilogy for DS and PSP from Frontline Studios
- An XBLA port of Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project
- A scrapped project called Duke Begins
I mentioned earlier that Duke Nukem Forever may or may not have been canned. Miller more or less confirmed that it’s actually not canned by offering up this statement: “We’ve never said that Duke Nukem Forever has ceased development…Yes, we released the internal team, but that doesn’t correlate to the demise of the project.”
Will Duke Nukem Forever see the light of day after all? At this rate, probably not.
