Announced today, Star Trek: D-A-C is getting an update filled with new features and content such as, an all-new single-player Survival Mode, more ships and pick-ups, maps, and updated gameplay features. For players that previously purchased the game on Xbox LIVE Arcade, the new content for Star Trek: D-A-C is available as a free download. The new content is included with the game now as one download from the Xbox Live Marketplace and the Playstation Network.
Since the game’s release on Xbox LIVE® Arcade earlier this year, Star Trek: D-A-C has been expanded with two additional ship classes, a single player game mode, several new pick-ups, a new map for Assault Mode, and enhanced gameplay features.
While Survival Mode has been around for cooperative online play, it is now available as a single-player mode. In Survival Mode, Starfleet captains have only three lives to blast through waves of enemy ships. When destroyed, enemy ships and drones drop special ability and score pick-ups, and players are challenged to grab as many as they can before their lives run out.
Included, in the content update, are two new ship types, the Missle Cruiser and the Support Frigate. This brings the total count to five ship types. The Missile Cruiser is a heavy artillery ship that features a longer range than any other ship in the game, but is vulnerable to close range attacks due to a low rate of fire and slower flight speed. The Support Frigate allows players to heal friendly ships and easily target escape pods. The nimble Bomber speeds in and out of battles, dropping bombs in its wake. The Fighter attacks ships head-on, blasting missiles and dodging attacks.
New gameplay updates in Star Trek: D-A-C include variable AI difficulty settings, customizable goals that allow players to set game time limits and number of kills needed to win, improved mechanics for capturing control points in Conquest games, and host migration, which will allow games to continue even if the host player disconnects.
Star Trek: D-A-C is available now on Xbox Live Arcade for 800 Microsoft Points and Playstation Network for $9.99.
