Hoo boy, things are getting very serious with the media debacle that is Infinity Ward and Activision. A group of around thiry-eight Infinity Ward employees have filed a lawsuit against Activision claiming the publisher has not paid the full amount of bonuses and royalities owed to the developer since the release of Modern Warfare 2; going so far as to say that Activision is intentionally holding the developer's payment hostage in order to keep employees working at IW to develop (and subsequently reap the rewards of) Modern Warfare 3.
According to G4TV, the employees taking part in the suit include "a significant portion of the members of the creative team" for Modern Warfare 2. Information filed within the suit mentions that Activision has paid Infinity Ward around $28 million for the game, but is charged for witholding an additional $54 million for 2009's profits, not including amounts yet to be payed for the games success in 2010. In addition to the money owed, the IW employees are seeking anywhere from $75 million to $500 million in punitive damages. The suit also mentions Activision's breach of contract by failing to pay terminated or departing employees their due within seventy-two hours of their end of employment.

Modern Warfare 2 has one sweet multiplayer component that's almost worth the price of admission on its own merit. Still not convinced? Why not play it this weekend to see if you'll change your mind? Starting today steam users can get in on some newb-tube cheapness with Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer which will be free to play through this weekend only.
It's a shame that all the hub-bub taking place at Infinity Ward could (operative word is could) make this one of the last great Call of Duty multiplayer experiences we'll see in a while. If you have the PC power to run the game it may be worth it to download and play even if you're already playing it on other platforms. Free is free after all.

There's no word on what maps will be included in the package, but rumors suggest it will include five maps, which may include some familiar locales.

Despite requests for Infinity Ward to add the infamous Nazi zombies of World at War fame into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it's not happening, says the studio's community manager Robert Bowling.
"There will be no Nazis or zombies in any piece of Modern Warfare 2 downloadable content," he told IGN.
It looks like you'll just have to wait for the next Call of Duty to kill some Viet Cong zombies.

Activision has said that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 DLC will be coming this spring, but it has not given a more specific window. CVG reports that a "reliable source" has told them the DLC will be releasing on Xbox Live this April, which would fit nicely with the spring release date Activision suggested.
There's still no word on what the DLC will include, although it's been unofficially confirmed that it will contain new maps. Whatever it is, it will be a timed exclusive on the Xbox 360, releasing sometime later on PS3 and PC.

Well what the hell did you think it was? Of course it's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It sold 11.86 million units across the US, UK and Japan alone, topping Nintendo hard hitters Wii Sports Resort, New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Wii Fit.
If you care about the breakdown, according to aggregate data from NPD Group, GfK Chart-Track and Enterbrain, Modern Warfare 2 sold 8.82 million units in the US, 2.8 million in the UK and 238,000 in Japan.
The top five are listed after the break.

Because it's Sunday, and there's no news to post whatsoever, we will feed you with awesome videos. Speaking of which, here's an incredible knife kill in Modern Warfare 2. Not only does it ricochet off a wall, but it hits the poor soul right in the eye! That makes it worthy of posting, but only on Sunday.

It was reported that the release date for Modern Warfare 2's first DLC pack, a 30-day timed exclusive for the Xbox 360, would be releasing March 1. Infinity Ward's community man Robert Bowling has responded to the rumor, calling it what it is, a rumor.
"We haven't set a date for our DLC," he wrote on his Twitter. "Once we have one, it'll be posted here and by me on other official outlets.
"We're still figuring out what the DLC will include, until we know for sure, I can't comment on what to expect yet."
Earlier this week, a video surfaced allegedly showing the new maps included in the DLC.

The DLC is expected to arrive sometime this spring, with some rumors suggesting March 1.
