Futuremark Games Studio has released the Firepower weapons pack for Shattered Horizon on Steam. Firepower, which is free for all players, adds eight new weapons and three new grenades. To celebrate the release, Futuremark is offering Shattered Horizon for just $14.99 until Wednesday May 12.
"We believe players should be rewarded for supporting a game and that’s why we have released all our DLC packs for free," said Jaakko Haapasalo, Head of Futuremark Games Studio. "In fact for $14.99, the same price as 'that other map pack' released this week, PC gamers can now get the complete Shattered Horizon game, including both the Moonrise map pack and the brand new Firepower weapons pack, from a developer that puts players first." Announced today, Shattered Horizon will be getting multiplayer DLC in the form of four new maps that challenge players to survive the fight all while floating through space with zero gravity. The content pack is exclusive to the PC and is free for everyone.
While no release date has been announced yet, the developer did say that those who pre-ordered the game would be able to start beta testing the maps later this week. They say that because so much for the combat is based around zero gravity, they want to make sure it works perfectly before releasing it to everybody.
I recently had the opportunity to do a brief Q&A exchange with Antti Summala, lead designer of Futuremark Games Studio's latest (and first) game Shattered Horizon. We discussed the development and design decisions in Shattered Horizon and talked a bit about the studio's future plans for downloadable content.
