Star Trek Online is just a day away from its PC debut, and the developers, Cryptic Studios, are already thinking about the future. They would "love" to bring the game to consoles. Saying that it's "definitely" possible, but they won't be rushing for a PS3 or Xbox 360 release, Executive Producer Craig Zinkievich told CVG.
"We would love to get STO to the console," Zinkievich said. "At launch, it will just be available for the PC, but here at Cryptic, we want our games across multiple platforms. But we'll have to see how Star Trek does and then secondly, we want to do it justice and not hurry something along just to get it on the console."

With over 11 million monthly subscriptions, it's no surprise World of Warcraft is one of the biggest games of all time, certainly the biggest MMO. With that said, will any game ever surpass it? According to Star Trek Online developer Cryptic Studios, no.
"No game will topple World of Warcraft," Cryptic's COO Jack Emmert told MCV. "Many companies try to replicate Warcraft's gameplay, but that's just silly. If someone wants WoW, they'll play WoW."

Cryptic Studios, developer of Star Trek Online, is surprised at how successful the beta for its game has been. "The actual numbers crushed our predictions," they expressed.
"The first week of Open Beta has been amazing. We have seen more signups and players than we ever imagined we could." Cryptic then went on to explain what they plan on doing, now that they have so many players giving feedback on the beta.
"So, we tore apart our logs and began doing a lot of extra optimization work even while we stumbled upon some truly bizarre crashes that can only appear with this sort of load. The result? The shard has been steadily improving over the first few days of Open Beta. Given the hardware we're adding and a couple more fixes we have in the pipe, shard performance and stability should continue to improve over the coming week."
While we haven't given Star Trek Online a play-through (yet), from what we hear the game isn't exactly "unique," and has gotten mixed reviews. Let's hope the game gets some support and additional content, so it doesn't fade away into the vast grave of failed MMO's.
