In a herculean effort to squeeze every last drop of blood out of the Call of Duty stone, Activision's Dan Amrich revealed in a Facebook thread that the publisher is planning on releasing three more Call of Duty games before the earth has a chance to finish two consecutive revolutions around the sun.
As for COD, they've confirmed three games in the next two years. Seeing as how there is a pattern of one new COD game every year, this is one new COD game from one new developer, and in a different genre from the core games we've seen. I don't think that's comparable to what happened last year with Guitar Hero, but maybe you see it differently.
So there's Treyarch's COD coming out this year which is rumored to take place in Vietnam, Infinity Ward's COD game which is assumed to be Modern Warfare 3, and finally, this third COD game which is said to be an action/adventure title meant to broaden the series audience. That's a lot of Duty. We better start digging a hole next to Guitar Hero so we can get ready to drive this series into the ground.

Infinity Ward has finally put out official word on the incoming DLC pack for Modern Warfare 2, entitled the "Stimulus Package." The pack will launch worldwide on March 30 for Xbox Live. It will later be coming to PC and PSN down the line of course.
There's no word on what maps will be included in the package, but rumors suggest it will include five maps, which may include some familiar locales.

Despite requests for Infinity Ward to add the infamous Nazi zombies of World at War fame into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it's not happening, says the studio's community manager Robert Bowling.
"There will be no Nazis or zombies in any piece of Modern Warfare 2 downloadable content," he told IGN.
It looks like you'll just have to wait for the next Call of Duty to kill some Viet Cong zombies.

Online gaming has come on leaps and bounds over the years, and it has many guises. My first online experience is born from when I jumped into a multiplayer game of Halo 2 in 2006, and I was impressed. Gone were the days of my boredom taking over as each AI-controlled enemy followed a predictable and predetermined course of action. If they were designed to be a difficult opponent, they simply fired more frequently and with improved accuracy.

Activision has said that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 DLC will be coming this spring, but it has not given a more specific window. CVG reports that a "reliable source" has told them the DLC will be releasing on Xbox Live this April, which would fit nicely with the spring release date Activision suggested.
There's still no word on what the DLC will include, although it's been unofficially confirmed that it will contain new maps. Whatever it is, it will be a timed exclusive on the Xbox 360, releasing sometime later on PS3 and PC.

Activision revealed that, to our absolute surprise, another Call of Duty is coming this year, and the franchise will continue to have an annual release schedule. However, the publisher also, once again, brought up the idea of a possible subscription-based Call of Duty.
"Our strategy continues to be to annualize our key franchises. We've indicated before that Call of Duty is on a two year development cycle given the content and work that needs to go into a high-quality game experience," said Activision's Mike Griffith. "We also have new business models potentially for the franchise in the future and we've been building capabilities on both the business development side as well as the studio side of it."
As if that wasn't clear enough, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick hinted, "If you think about the success that we've had in other product categories on subscription, you can get a sense of the direction that we want to take that franchise."
As mentioned before, this isn't the first time Activision has suggested a subscription-based model. They also made the notion back in November.

During today's conference call, Activision revealed that a new Call of Duty will be coming this year (surprise!). Following last year's huge success with Modern Warfare 2, the company is not expecting the franchise to "hit 2009 highs." Call of Duty is "not planned on repeating the same level of success on this year's title," clarified Activision's Mike Griffith.
The game is rumored to release this November and take place in the Vietnam War. It will be developed by Treyarch.
Despite the lowered expectations, Activision is still "bullish" on both performance and quality for the title.

Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling sent word today that a fix for the Modern Warfare 2 "care package" glitch is on the way, currently in Microsoft certification.
"Modern Warfare 2 Care Package Fix on the way," he tweeted. "This includes sprinting with and calling multiple in."
Bowling also noted that it entered Microsoft certification yesterday. The same patch went out for PC and PS3 last month.

Well what the hell did you think it was? Of course it's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It sold 11.86 million units across the US, UK and Japan alone, topping Nintendo hard hitters Wii Sports Resort, New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Wii Fit.
If you care about the breakdown, according to aggregate data from NPD Group, GfK Chart-Track and Enterbrain, Modern Warfare 2 sold 8.82 million units in the US, 2.8 million in the UK and 238,000 in Japan.
The top five are listed after the break.
