Hello all of you out there in the gaming univerese! BNG has great news to deliver to you. We have been given press access to GenCon 2011! Be sure to check in with the site often for updates about the event, as well as gaming news an other articles written specially for the gaming community! The dates for the convention are August4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th. Miles, Kenny and I will be there, we hope to see you there as well! If you happen to catch on of us there, stop us and say "Hi"! High Voltage: The Conduit Sucked, Conduit 2 Will Be Better

The Conduit had a lot of hype behind it. The game's development represented a certain openness to the gaming community. High Voltage saw a problem and wanted to be the first to tackle it; be the first to make a "hardcore" Wii game and realize the dreams gamers had for first person shooters. So we watched, with baited breath as the game developed, impressed along the way by the community's opinions and input. The end result? Aside from great controls, meh.

It appears High Voltage is aware of this as they updated their blog and spent quite a bit of time talking about the Conduit 2. From what they wrote they seem to agree the The Conduit had some flaws; particularly in terms of art direction and an overall lack of gravity to the game's events.

At various points throughout the development of C1 we would discover something new about the technology, build a new graphics feature, and then have to make hard decisions as to whether or not we had time to rework existing art content to take better advantage of the latest features...The result was a game that is fun to play and is solid overall, but never quite manages to excite its audience with inspired visions of a darkly futuristic world that’s being torn apart by aliens.

The post goes on to talk about the developers commitment to not add content to the game unless they are a hundred percent in love with it. They also mention refinements the've introduced to Quantum 3 engine that will further help improve the game's art work. You can check out the rest of the post via the link below.

Metroid: Other M Pushed Back to Late August

Sorry Metroid fans. If you were looking forward to getting your hands on Samus's guns this June you'll be disappointed to learn that Nintendo has announced that Metroid: Other M will be pushed all the way back to August 31st, around two months longer than the originally announced release date. As for the whys of the delay? When Kotaku broke the story earlier today Nintendo got in touch with them to comment:

"The launch date for Metroid: Other M has shifted to Aug. 31. As you may know, this game is the product of a unique partnership between longtime Metroid producer Yoshio Sakamoto, Team Ninja and many other individuals and groups, all of whom have set very high standards for this latest installment in the series. Although it's taking slightly longer than expected to complete the project, we're confident that fans will find it to be well worth the wait. Video game development is a lengthy and complex process. We have always put the quality of our products first, and have historically taken the time needed to make our games meet the expectations of our fans."

Oh well, life goes on. It's not uncommon for high profile Nintendo titles to get pushed back at the slightest hint of trouble. At least Wii owners have Mario Galaxy 2 to look forward to next month. Unless, you know, that game gets pushed back as well.

No More Heroes: Wii vs. Xbox 360

No More Heroes is heading over to the Xbox 360 and someone, somewhere (probably here or something) decided to show off what sort of extra visual flair would be added to a game originally developed for the Wii after being ported over to the Xbox 360. Here's a hint: More shaders. It's worth mentioning however that the Wii iteration holds up surprisingly well, thanks in part to the cel-shaded art style.

NPD: Red Steel 2 Sells 50,000 in Its First Twelve Days

Ubisoft's sword swinger Red Steel 2 is seeing some somewhat meager sales numbers for its first twelve days on the shelf. Kotaku provided the NPD numbers detailing the figures and as it stands now it doesn't look like a lot of people are sliding their plastic for the Wii-motion plus centered title, which is really a shame since the sword fighting mechanics of the game is something to be experienced.

Ubisoft commented on the matter making sure to mention that the figures only reflected twelve days worth of sales and that they would wait to see were the series stands in the long term. Hopefully some more substantial numbers will help bolster the game to success.

Red Steel 2 Review

At the advent of the Wii Red Steel was a game that wanted to revolutionize the FPS genre using the then innovative motion capabilities of the Wii remote. However, when put to practice the dream of  being able to realistically sword play in a 1:1 fashion stumbled over awkward controls and clunky pre-canned animations, concessions made in part for the de-glitzed motion capabilities of the Wii remote. A little over three years and one peripheral later, Red Steel 2 has arrived to try and provide the gun slingling, sword fighting action craved from its predecessor. With the Wii motion plus can motion controlled sword fighting finally be achieved, or is it better to not cross blades with this sword slinger?

Super Mario Galaxy 2 Box Art Made Official

Get a load of the Mario/Yoshi action on the official box art of Super Mario Galaxy 2. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the image evokes a likeness to the Super Mario Bros. 3 box art to me. It must be the entirely overjoyed smile Mario has. At any rate, the box art implies sheer fun, and perhaps some other thoughts depending on how much of your mind is in the gutter.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is due to come out in North America May 23rd.
