Super Mario Galaxy 2 Box Art Made Official

Get a load of the Mario/Yoshi action on the official box art of Super Mario Galaxy 2. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the image evokes a likeness to the Super Mario Bros. 3 box art to me. It must be the entirely overjoyed smile Mario has. At any rate, the box art implies sheer fun, and perhaps some other thoughts depending on how much of your mind is in the gutter.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is due to come out in North America May 23rd.

Microsoft Game Room Goes Live, Falls Flat on Its Face, Gets Up Again

Microsoft launched their virtual game room service today on Xbox 360 and Games for Windows. The service launched early this morning and had a very nice loading screen and not much else due to a technical glitch that kept the service from loading properly on both platforms. Luckily, the issue was later resolved and now a few handfuls worth of 70's and 80's arcade classics are available for your nostalgic pleasure... for a few of your money dollars cash.

Within the game room you can choose to play some arcade classics for the equivalent of $.50 a game, that is to say you pay $.50 for one round on a single game. You can also purchase full games for about $3.00 worth of Microsoft points if microtransactions, arcade style, aren't really your thing.

Microsoft is promising that around 1,000 classic arcade titles will eventually make it to the service in the future. Not much by way of official word has been given if more modern arcade games will ever make it to the virtual arcade, but rumors are out there that Dreamcast games could be added at a future point. Total speculation sure, but its nice to dream.

Bioware shed some light on its upcoming Mass Effect 2 "Kasumi - Stolen Memory" DLC. For about $7 USD, you'll be able to recruit Kasumi Goto for a new mission involving a vault heist from a deadly criminal named Donovan Hock. The new content is reported to add a cool 90-minutes to the game and is set to release sometime in April for 560 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live, and 560 Bioware points (really?) for the PC.

Other add-ons with the DLC include a new research upgrade, weapon, and achievment.

Mario/Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto flew out to London earlier this weekend to accept his BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) award and guess what? He said something about Pikmin. Not much, but something.

According to a tweet from Official Nintendo Magazine UK, when asked about an upcoming Pikmin game Miyamoto said that the game's development was "well underway", which is to say that there actually will be a Pikmin 3.

Not much else was said regarding Pikmin or other games in general, but this little nugget along with rumors Nintendo will be showing off their next big Zelda title (and maybe even a DS successor) at this years E3 has the hype machine for the big N building steam once again.

Final Fantasy XIII Review

Final Fantasy XIII comes off initially as a very standard Japanese role-playing game. As the player, you’re introduced to a cast of characters, each with their individual tale of woe, and you’re pushed into a simplistic combat system that fails to be in any way interesting. To put it bluntly, the general first impression of this latest installment in Square’s most beloved franchise is that it’s boring beyond repair. But, while said ingression does go on to last a near full three hours, it gives way to an infinitely more engrossing system of play immediately afterwards, and the narrative slowly becomes one of the more involved that the series has known. MLB 2k10 Review: Just Barely Tips the Ball

by Kyle Lehtinen Mar 13, 2010 4:56 PM CST

To break it down simply, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 have their own exclusive baseball games, SCE's The Show and 2k's MLB 2kXX series. What this means is that if you only own a Xbox 360, and are an avid baseball fan, your choice of baseball game is pretty much set as there are no alternatives on the platform. Since 2k's MLB series debuted on the 360, the yearly iterations each had their shares of steps forwards and backwards but could never match up against PS3's The Show. Does this dilemma continue with MLB 2k10?
