We mentioned last week that the newest issue of German magazine PCGames features the New York City-bound Crysis 2. Thankfully, someone has taken the liberty to translate the article to ye ole English, so we can take in all the Crytek hotness.
Crysis 2 takes place three years after the events of its predecessor in a war-torn New York City. The aliens have turned a large part of the world into a battlefield -- Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, London -- all devastated. Humanity is on the brink of extinction. Crytek is also taking a different narrative approach for Crysis 2. They say the sequel will have much "tighter" storytelling than the first, which they admitted was weak.
Crysis 2 will also be introducing the Nanosuit 2, offering more features, connectable modules and a new "tactics" mode. The tactics mode allows players to scan their environment for information -- weapon locations and opportunities to eavesdrop on enemies or investigate fallen soldiers.
Also, of course, Crytek is brining back the destructible environments Crysis is known for, adding more realistic physics processing.
Crysis 2 is releasing this year for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, the latter of which the magazine was shown, calling it the most impressive video game on the system visually.
