Although there really hasn't been any official word on when gamers should expect BioWare's Star Wars: The Old Republic to hit, with all the game information the developer has revealed, many figured it couldn't be much longer. Unfortunately, it looks like we were way off. In a recent conference call with investors, EA CEO John Riccitiello noted, "One key driver is going to be the launch date of our major MMO." Although Riccitiello never specified what MMO he was referring to, it's very likely he's talking about The Old Republic.
"As it stands today, the game is making great progress towards a Spring 2011 launch," he added. "But given the volatility of this particular sector and the fact that we haven't yet provided a specific launch date, at least for now we're excluding the revenue, or will be excluding the revenue, from our FY11 plans."
EA's other MMO, APB, developed by Realtime Worlds, is expected to release March of this year, so unless EA has a "major" unannounced MMO, I'm out of ideas.
