In just over a decade, Blizzard's worth has multiplied by over a thousand times. In a recent Game Informer interview, Activision Blizzard's Bobby Kotick spoke about the unbelievable growth Blizzard has seen. In 1995, Blizzard was purchased by Davidson & Associates for $7 million, a sum that, at the time, Kotick believed to be "insane."
"That year Activision probably had 60 million in revenues", he said. "They said they paid seven million dollars for Blizzard. I'm like 'Are you out of your minds? They're like a contract developer! They have Warcraft but what else do they have? You paid SEVEN million! That's insane!"
Fast forward 12 years later, and Activision paid $7 billion for the creators of Warcraft and StarCraft. World of Warcraft generates $100 million in revenue a month. It looks like only having Warcraft (and a couple other key franchises) wasn't much of a problem for them. Kotick's gotta be punching himself in the face right about now.

Reminds me of the 12 or so publishers who rejected J.K. Rowling and her silly little story of a kid wizard with funny glasses. I bet these people wake up screaming at night :-).

you’d think if they made $100 million dollars a month they’d be able to provide their customers with better service…

Personaly, I never had any issues with Blizzard service. I think they’re doing a fine job. Next to the fact that its quite challenging to support and serve an over 11 million people player base ;)
