Shattered Horizon to Keep Chugging Despite Futuremark Losses

Earlier this week, we reported that two Futuremark Games employees were getting laid off. We emailed the company for comment on the matter, and they pointed us to this forum post made today. It appears that support for Shattered Horizon will continue despite the studio's losses.

"We want to let everyone know that our plans for supporting Shattered Horizon and its community are unaffected by recent changes at Futuremark," he wrote. "It is fairly common in the games industry after finishing a major project for a studio to reduce staffing a bit from the large team required to launch a game.

"A core team within Futuremark Games Studio continues to develop the free Moonrise expansion pack. All four of the new levels are already being tested (which many of you in this thread are helping with). It is no secret what other people in the team are working on while some are looking at stuff we are not ready to talk about yet.

"We'll be revealing more of our plans and releasing more details about the Moonrise pack in the New Year. Till then, it is business as usual although it will be quieter round these forums over the holiday break as most of the team are enjoying some well earned holiday."

So there you have it. Nothing to worry about PC gamers.

  1. I have to say, it was definately a risk for Future Mark to get into game development this year of all years. Personally I feel that Shattered Horizon is a game where just the idea sounds a turn off for players. Zero Gravity can be a confusing environment for frantic games such as first person shooters.
