After hearing about Metro 2033, some thought it might be another open-world post-apocalyptic game like Fallout 3 or S.T.A.L.K.E.R., only taking place in Russia. Wrong. The game won't be open-world says THQ. It will be more linear, allowing for a more cohesive and compelling storyline.

"It’s a story-driven, atmospheric, first-person shooter. It’s not an open world game," said THQ's Dean Sharpe. "The goal was to make a very believable, atmospheric, story-driven game, and I think that we did that."

Some might be disappointed with the news, but chances are THQ made the decision because the game was better suited for a linear campaign. Metro 2033 is expected to release April 30 of next year.
