More negative press for Activision's Modern Warfare 2. This time, it looks like gamers are being banned, or at least warned, because of the game's peer-to-peer online service IWnet. Several gamers have reported losing their broadband internet access, being downgraded to dial-up, or simply being warned by their service provider because of "running servers on their home connection" and "excessive file sharing through peer to peer connections."
You would think it would take a heck of a lot of play time in order to raise an ISP's red flag, but it's possibly due to an inefficiency or other programming issue in the p2p system. One email a user got read, "We ask you to bear in mind that continued violations of the road runner acceptable use policy can result in suspension or even termination of your road runner account."
We'll keep you informed as we gain more information on this matter.
