Infinity Ward made the decision to block Xbox Live's party chat feature in Modern Warfare 2 to prevent gamers from getting an unfair advantage while playing online. DICE today said that they have no problem keeping party chat enables in their game, a decision likely made to draw gamers towards Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and away from Modern Warfare 2.
DICE producer Gordon Van Dyke, known for bashing IW for dropping support for dedicated servers in MW2, told MTV Multiplayer today "We are okay with [party chat]. We haven't taken a stance being against it and feeling like people are cheating." Van Dyke says he doesn't see it causing in a problem in their game, so he's cool with it.
DICE has also stated that Bad Company 2 will have full support for dedicated servers on PC. Currently in beta, the game is expected to ship March 2 of next year in North America and March 5 elsewhere.
