A user at Reddit posted an error message received while trying to connect to IWnet on Modern Warefare 2 for the PC. Only problem is that it told him to reconnect to Xbox Live, adding even more evidence to the claim that the PC version is merely a console port (with mouse support and graphics settings). Oh Infinity Ward...

Might as well drop the keyboard and mouse and plug in the 360 controller.

This isn’t all that uncommon in ports. Sometimes they’ll say ‘press start’ or ‘press A to continue’. While MW2 wasn’t a direct console port, there are a number of lines of code that were simply copied over to the PC version, this being one of them. It’s just lazy coding.
A very similar thing happened with Need for Speed: Shift. The Xbox 360 version tried connecting to the PSN at launch.

This is fake. I had the normal error, and it doesn’t say that. I cannot remember it now but it definitely doesn’t say that.

Thanks for the heads up. It’s definitely possible that this is Photoshopped. However, code for splitscreen and system link was found in the PC source code.

Spliter

Internet
And its work !!!.
You need the game on Xbox 360 and on PC, so you can play twice at the same place without split-screen and on Xbox live. BUT, if you wnat to play on Xbox live whit your PC, you cannot disconect your profile on your Xbox, cuz its gonna retur to menu.
